Will Trusler

Head Coach Will Trusler brings nearly two decades of coaching experience to the pool deck and has had success at every step and level along the way.

In his first year as Head Coach at Waterloo, Will helped lead the team to its most successful season in program history. Highlighted by 48 team records in the senior age group, Waterloo saw its highest finish ever at SCY Sectionals (8th), LCM Sectionals (4th), and Futures (9th). Coach Will also helped develop WLOO’s first Olympic Trials qualifier, more than doubled the amount of USAS Junior Nationals qualifiers, and led two LSC record-breaking relays that ranked number one and number two in the country, respectively, in their age groups. Coach Will was named the 2024 South Texas Senior Coach of the Year.

Prior to his role overseeing the Elite group, Will led Waterloo’s 13-14 year olds in the Gold group to a run of unprecedented success during his six seasons including 80 of a possible 92 team records, six straight top-5 finishes at TAGS, and multiple Futures/Sectionals/Zones qualifiers. Coach Will also oversaw the first iteration of the Senior 2 training group and helped develop over a dozen Sectional qualifiers in the first year.

Coach Will joined WLOO following a five-year stint with the 92NY Flying Dolphins in New York City where he worked primarily with the 9-10 year olds. During his time in the Big Apple, Will helped grow YFD from 120 to over 300 athletes, and his swimmers accounted for over 30 team records and over 200 appearances on the team’s top-10 rankings. His swimmers competed at the Junior Olympics, the NCSA Age Group Championships, and finished among USAS Top 16 National Rankings. Will was named part of the Metro Swimming Zone Team staff in the summer of 2019.

Will began his coaching career in Knoxville, Tenn., with his former club team, Tennessee Aquatics, where he swam for and coached with multiple ASCA Level-V coaches. He also coached the Sugarwood Stingrays to back-to-back undefeated seasons as well as the Hardin Valley Academy Hawks to their first State Championship.

Away from the pool, Coach Will loves to cheer on his Tennessee Vols/Lady Vols, read thriller or fantasy books, eat chicken nuggets, and anonymously comment on SwimSwam articles.

Brooke Brisson

Associate Head Coach Brooke Brisson has been with Waterloo since 2017. She is originally from Southlake, Texas, where she was an All-American swimmer for the Carroll Dragons. She graduated from the University of Missouri in 2013 and spent time coaching in the midwest prior to moving back to Texas to coach for Waterloo.

In her time with the team she has been involved in almost every aspect of the age group program. She has helped the age group program consistently place in the top 5 at Texas Age Group Swimming Championships (TAGS). Coach Brooke has produced multiple nationally-ranked 12&Under athletes that include multiple TAGS champions, Zones team members and Sectional qualifiers. Brooke has been named to the Fitter and Faster “Top 50 Age Group Coaches” list twice in both 2020 and 2024. She has also served on the South Texas LSC championship committee since 2021 and was named the 2024 South Texas Age Group Coach of the Year.

Coach Brooke lives in Cedar park with her husband Justin, their son Revan, and their two huskies (Korra and Zuko). Outside of coaching she enjoys hanging out with her family, going to Austin FC soccer games and working on DIY projects around the house.

Michaella Dahdah

Coach Michaella Dahdah is taking over as the Waterloo Round Rock site lead after spending close to a decade on deck at our Northwest location.

Michaella grew up in a military family–was born in Georgia, lived in Washington and Hawaii, and finally settled in San Antonio. Coach Michaella moved to Austin to attend the University of Texas where she received a bachelor of journalism degree and a bachelor of science in kinesiology degree.

After graduating in 2017, Coach Michaella stayed in Austin where she coached a summer league team before becoming a lessons instructor at Waterloo. Coach Michaella quickly became a lessons deck supervisor and then an assistant coach. As an assistant, Coach Michaella had the opportunity to help create the Varsity group at Waterloo which she became the lead coach of in 2018. Since then, Coach Michaella has also coached Senior 1, Senior 2, and Silver 1. During her time at Waterloo, Coach Michaella has coached swimmers to STX champs, STAGS, TAGS and Sectionals.

When not on the pool deck, Coach Michaella likes to spend her time with her husband Kevin, her daughter Marlow, and her corgi Wasabi!

Ardell Blossom

Ardell Blossom hails from New Orleans and brings a lifetime of experience in high-level athletics to his swimmers here at Waterloo. Growing up, Ardell split time between the pool and the football field, ultimately hanging up his goggles to pursue playing Division I football at Mississippi State University.

Following his football career, Ardell got back on the pool deck and began coaching in Memphis, Tennessee, where he worked with athletes of all levels ranging from novice swimmers to future college swimmers. Ardell started here at Waterloo in 2022 and has produced numerous STAGS, Sectionals, and Futures qualifiers during his time in Austin. With over a decade of experience, Ardell loves finding new ways to approach the sport every day!

Devon Meeks

Devon Meeks got his swimming career started as an 8-year-old in South Dakota and has been coaching for the last six years. During this time, Devon has spent time all over the country, including living in eight different states, learning from some of the best swim minds in the business.

As an athlete, Devon was a three-year letter winner at the University of Iowa where he achieved multiple NCAA B cuts and set numerous pool records. Prior to swimming collegiately, Devon was a state champion in South Dakota, Minnesota, and Iowa and set multiple state records for both his club and high school teams.

Coach Devon has done nearly every role a person can within the walls of a pool. This includes teaching swim lessons, working programs for elderly and ESL persons, coaching collegiate all-americans, and now working with the next generation of great Waterloo swimmers. His goal is to work for the US national team.

Devon has many different interests including, but not limited to: music, culinary, Wikipedia deep dives, and politics. He loves to travel, visit national parks, and get acquainted with new
languages/cultures.

Robert Johnson

Robert Johnson is a dedicated and passionate coach with over a decade of experience in the sport, excited to start his second year with Waterloo.

Coach Robert possesses a unique perspective on the sport, shaped not only by his journey as a collegiate swimmer at Missouri State University but by his experience coaching athletes at every level of the sport. From nurturing beginners who are competing in their first swim meet to coaching advanced athletes who have qualified for STAGS and TAGS, Zones, Sectionals, and Junior Nationals–Robert has helped shape the journey of many successful swimmers.

Robert believes that swimming is not just a sport, but a lifelong pursuit that marries technical skill and joy. This philosophy drives his approach to coaching and mentoring, as he strives to create a positive and encouraging environment for all athletes. His commitment to the development of young swimmers extends beyond mere technique; he is deeply invested in instilling a sense of confidence and camaraderie among teammates.

When not in the pool, Robert cherishes spending quality time with his family, friends and dog, embracing the joys of life outside of swimming.

Will McCormick

Will McCormick has over a decade of experience in the world of aquatics, having coached for the last eight years–and he brings a passion for teaching and working with kids to the deck every day.

Coach Will grew up in Memphis, Tennessee, swimming for both the Germantown Swim Team and Christian Brothers High School. He was also an Eagle Scout, a Youth in Government participant, and a lifeguard. Will stayed home to attend the University of Memphis where he studied Philosophy and started his coaching career with Memphis Tigers Swimming as an assistant coach. After college, Will spent time coaching for the Midsouth YMCA and managing the Collierville Life Time pool.

In 2021, Coach Will became head coach of the Jackson Swim Team. Here, Will got to work with swimmers of all ages and abilities and hone his love of teaching. During his time with JST, Coach Will helped send swimmers to State, LSC, and Zone Championships.

Away from WLOO, Will enjoys camping, rock climbing, and his two dogs! His favorite unusual skills are balancing things on his finger, being bad at golf, and having more fun facts than you would care to hear.

Mikey Calvillo

Mikey Calvillo joins the Waterloo staff after an illustrious swim career, leading our Varsity training group and assisting with Elite.

Coach Mikey grew up in San Antonio competing for AAAA where he climbed the ladder from TAGS to Nationals. He also competed internationally for the USAS National Junior Team. Mikey then went on to swim for Indiana University, where he was an All-American, Big 10 Champion, and Olympic Trials qualifier. He specialized in distance free/400 IM, served as team captain and recruiting coordinator, and still holds a team record.

After graduating with a degree in Kinesiology, Coach Mikey began his coaching career as the Head Coach of the Greater Austin YMCA Swim Alliance-Townlake. There he established and ran three different training groups in their inaugural USA Swimming season. He also coached the masters program and taught lessons.

Mikey is a huge fan of breakfast tacos, Barton Springs, Dr. Pepper, and his tuxedo cat named Skurt Steak.

Cole Crane

Cole Crane is in his first year coaching at Waterloo after graduating from The University of Texas at Austin in May of 2024. Cole leads our Senior 1 group as well as assists with the Elite group.

Cole graduated with a degree in sports management with a specialization in education and competed for the Longhorns swim team for five years. He was a part of five Big 12 team championships and three individual/relay titles. Cole was a national champion for Texas in 2021 and a one-time All American. Cole was a two-time Academic All-Big 12 First Team member and a one time CSCAA Scholar All-American First Team member. Cole was also an Olympic Trials qualifier in the 100 & 200 meter butterfly.

Cole is originally from Florida. In his free time he loves fishing, surfing, playing video games with his friends, and trying new foods.

Garrett Sullivan

Garrett Sullivan began his swimming career in Benton, Arkansas, swimming for both the Bryant Barracudas and the Central Arkansas Racers. Garrett also swam for Benton High School from 2012-2015 and acquired two 6A All-State honors and several All-District honors. After graduating from Benton, he swam for the Henderson State University Red Wave and lettered during each of his four years. He graduated from the university with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science in 2019.

Garrett returned as a coach for the Racers in the summer of 2018 as a site lead for their Bryant location from 2019-2020. After taking a break from coaching and pursuing tech jobs, he became the Assistant Coach for the Bryant Arkansas Swim School from 2021-2023. Garrett started with Waterloo Swimming in September 2023.

Coach Garrett started his Masters swimming career shortly before joining Waterloo’s staff. He has set multiple Arkansas Masters State records and Citizen records in his age group for butterfly and backstroke events. Outside of swimming, Coach Garrett loves to play video games with friends. He has also been producing electronic music for 7 years. Every once in a while, he likes to act in short films/movies.

Greta Kinsey

Greta Kinsey fell in love with swimming at the age of 7 as a member of the Sigonella Swordfish in Sicily, Italy. The sport took her many places in Europe–teaching her how to train and be a part of a team. She then moved to Sacramento, CA, at the age of 13 and continued to train with the prestigious Sierra Marlins and DART Swim Teams.

Following high school, Greta served a year in the AmeriCorps City Year program–working as a math tutor and student mentor and developing her passion for teaching children. She then went on to study at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and began her coaching career with the Sierra Marlins.

Since coming to Waterloo in 2022, Coach Greta has worked with our Bronze 2, JV1, and Varsity groups before stepping into the role as our Silver 1/10U TAGS coach this season. She has set herself apart as a technique wizard on deck and has helped countless WLOO athletes fine tune their strokes. Coach Greta has developed numerous STAGS/TAGS qualifiers and is excited to help Silver 1 reach its goals this season and beyond!
