Waterloo Little Loos (Infants, Babies and Toddlers)

At Waterloo, we believe a play-based and child-led approach to be the most effective method in helping little ones build safety skills around the water and develop a healthy relationship with the water. All of our Little Loo classes are designed to introduce water safety skills like submerging and back floating within the limits of your and your child’s comfort. Our groups are divided primarily based on age and development, but are flexible enough to challenge young swimmers ready for more, while allowing more timid swimmers to develop at their own speed.

Waterloo Infants is a free 20 minute class that introduces baby and parent to the foundations of water safety and movement. Through various activities and routines baby and parent will gain knowledge and confidence in the water while preparing for skill development in Waterloo Babies. The class is offered to infants as young as 6 months and up to 12 months. An infant swimmer may test up to Waterloo Babies at 10 months with instructor approval. One adult must be in the water with the swimmer at all times. These are the goals that will be presented to our newest swimmers:

  • Comfort and acclimation to water
  • Parent and child communication in and around water to increase swimmer safety
  • Build parent and child’s confidence in the water together
  • Foster bond between infant and parent
  • Gentle introduction to foundational movements and skills in the water

Waterloo Babies is focused on creating a safe and positive relationship between baby, parent, and the water in a gentle and fun environment Activities will encourage development of sensory and motor skills while creating foundational skills in swimming. Swim Lessons Evaluations

Every swimmer (except private lessons and adult swimmers) needs to be evaluated before their registration is complete unless otherwise approved by Waterloo. This includes all swimmers that have not taken Waterloo programming for 90 days or more. This evaluation allows us to make sure each swimmer is in the best class or group and is very important to their success.

We offer free Swim Lesson and Swim Fitness evaluations on Saturdays between 12:30pm and 1:30pm at both locations, no appointment needed. Feel free to stop by anytime during that time period and we will get your swimmer evaluated. Email info@waterlooswimming.com for any questions.
