Now that the Olympics are over many people have reflected on what was. There were many Gold Medal moments this time around with Michael Phelps retiring, Simone Manuel becoming the first African-American woman swimmer to win an Olympic medal in an individual event, Usain Bolt making history and more. From the great to the bad there is much to be learned from watching the greatest athletes in the world compete on such a grand stage. Cathy Sheafor wrote an excellent article for Swim Swam on what age group swimmers could learn from these Olympic games and it’s more than swim technique. Swimming is more than a sport, like many other sports, swimming teaches life lessons.
