Hi I’m Coach Michaella at Waterloo Swimming in Austin, Texas and I’m here to talk today about sports drinks and hydration.

They are great as part of your rehydration plan, however they do contain sugars so it’s important to make sure that you read the labels before you put it into your body.

A positive of sports drinks are electrolytes, which some waters don’t have. So a combination of the two is great. If I see my athletes with a sports drink
in one hand, I expect to see a water in the other and I want to see them drinking both throughout practice.
